It has returned to me!

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 4, 2007, 2:21 PM
Whoa...

It has been a long time since I've been here. So, to make a long story short, the dorm I live in has (had) a very strict filter on their internet service for a while now... and for some reason, the ban was lifted on deviantArt. That was very nice of them.

Moving along...

So, in my 6 weeks of absence or so, I have "secured" a job with the Public Relations office here at my college. Very cool job, by the way... and it gets me access to other freelance jobs and shoots that otherwise would have been rather tough for a fledgling photographer such as myself to get! Its also cool to get to shoot ALL the time and have a really good reason to... I have progressed a substantial amount recently. At 500+ shots a time, that offers plenty of opportunities for learning...

Its all about learning...

But, in other news, my setup for photography has well surpassed what I would have thought last semester! Its actually rather exciting to finally have the proper tools to make the most of the job. Sure, some would contend that "you can do it all with any camera". Sorry... that may be true... but only to an extent.

I honesty am not being pretentious or conceited by saying this, but there would be almost NO WAY to make some of these photos with a point-and-shoot... you'd be a far greater photographer than I to be able to.

Anyways, just in case anyone cares, here's the setup right now...

Nikon D80 w/ MB-D80 vertical grip and battery extension
Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8-4
Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 push/pull telephoto
Nikkor 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens
Nikon SB-600 flash w/ all white balance color correction gels

**EDIT** 13 Oct 2007
For a little while, whilst my D80 is off getting some hot pixels corrected, I'll have a D2x... whoa... definitely spoiling me. I'm gonna run off and elope with this thing... awesome...

And I still drag all those that good ol' Canon A-1 film camera on almost all of my shoots... shooting Tri-X 400, of course.

I've got stuff to get ready for a football game tonight - yeah, on a Thursday... whatever...

That's the sort of thing I do on a "regular" basis. Otherwise, its random things that I get called and say, "Hey, there's something going on over at _______. Go."

I say, "Yes."

And I go.

Goodnight,
~Noah D.

Come visit me at My Uber.
It is updated far more often and I include a regularly updated blog with my progression as a fledgling photographer attempting to get his feet wet in photojournalism and documentary photography. Thanks! :D
